Stewarding What Matters to You, for Generations to Come
Sustainability is at the core of our operational pursuits. Whether we're keeping our waste out of the landfill and partnering to promote local food systems or offering our customers ways to save or switch to solar, we are working hard to preserve more of what we love about our home.
Helping teach students the power of EV technology
Hundreds of Hamilton County students have taken the challenge to design and build full-size, functioning electric power race cars. Working with green|spaces and STEM schools, we’re helping prepare local students for the tech jobs of tomorrow by providing access to our knowledge and expertise in design, engineering and electric vehicle technology.
The ultimate test of the students’ work held at Volkswagen Chattanooga where they compete against students from all over the area.
Breathe easier with cleaner energy
Our array of 4,408 solar panels generates 1.4 megawatts of renewable energy – enough to power 130 households each year.
Less landfills, more land to love
In addition to office recycling, composting, and reusing what we can, we give our customers thousands of wood chips every week and keep 95%+ of tree trimmings out of the landfill.
Adding It Up:
Office Recycling: 384,000 lbs.
Field Waste Recycling: 276,000 lbs.
Tree Trimming Waste Repurposed: 14,000 lbs.
Electronics Donated: 7,300 lbs.
*Note: annual totals, some waste categories are estimated.”
Driving and using less so you can breathe better
Our Smart Grid makes it possible to be more efficient. We can better control power resources, drive fewer miles, and we need less fuel to deliver the same high-quality services you expect.
It all adds up to better air quality, and a better quality of life for our community. Each year, the impact is like the air quality benefits we get from over 3,400 acres of forests, about the size of Georgia’s Cloudland Canyon State Park.
Cool off with Free Tree Releaf
Every household in the EPB Service territory can get two native trees, free every summer and fall. Keep the character of home in your yard, and keep it local with our partners Reflection Riding and the City of Chattanooga.
